Photo rejuvenation with Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Therapy
Intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy uses different wavelengths of light to improve the appearance of the skin. There are a variety of types of IPL therapy that can reduce fine lines and wrinkles, minimise freckles and sun spots, and heal vascular (blood vessel) problems such as prominent facial veins, spider veins, port wine stain birthmarks, and rosacea.
During IPL therapy, a machine such as the Candela Sirius delivers light energy into the deeper layers of the skin. Your skin cells absorb this light and transform it into heat energy, creating targeted tissue damage that destroys built-up melanin and other unwanted pigments.12
IPL photo rejuvenation is an excellent option to renew your skin and improve its overall elasticity.
Clear your acne
The Nordlys system gently treats acne by delivering narrow light wavelengths with Candela SWT. No topical anaesthesia is required and many patients describe the treatment as practically pain-free, like a flick from a rubber band, followed by a sensation similar to the feeling of gentle warmth after a day on the beach.
Rejuvenate your skin
Candela SWT treatment makes your skin look clear and bright by delivering short bursts of light that directly target the blood vessels or melanin within your skin. It delivers clinically proven results in the treatment of skin rejuvenation. In fact, in one study, 83% of patients had a greater than 50% improvement in cleared vessels.
Permanently reduce unwanted hair
Candela SWT treatment can help. It targets unwanted hair follicles with short bursts of light. Treatments are quick — from just a few minutes for the upper lip to about 30 minutes for the back or both legs. And the results are clinically proven.

How many IPL treatments will I need?
The number of treatments depends on the area and nature of what you’re having treated and may also depend on your skin type. Speak to one of our staff about how many treatments you can expect for your condition.
How can Candela SWT™ treatments help me get rid of unwanted hair?
The IPL system permanently reduces unwanted hair by delivering short, bursts of light directed at the target site. To ensure good contact with the skin, a thin layer of gel is applied to the skin prior to treatment.
Potentially harmful wavelengths and wavelengths that only heat up water in the skin are removed using patented Dual Mode Filtering. The emitted light is absorbed by pigment (melanin) in your hair. Melanin converts the light into heat, which travels down the hair, toward the root, and heats the hair matrix, preventing future hair growth.
How many hair removal treatments do I need?
The number of treatments depends on the location and the life cycle of your hair. Because every hair grows for a period of time, you may need to repeat the treatment at intervals until all hair follicles have been treated while growing.
Clinical studies have shown that 4 to 6 treatments are needed, and typically the intervals between treatments are 4 to 6 weeks.
How does the acne treatment work?
Acne occurs when your sebaceous glands overproduce an oily substance called sebum. When extra sebum gets trapped in your hair follicles, your skin can become irritated — leading to the appearance of pimples on your face. Left untreated, some types of acne can cause permanent scarring.
The IPL system treats acne by reducing the blood supply to the sebaceous gland to slow down the production of sebum. The system delivers short, bursts of IPL™ directed at the skin. Using patented Dual Mode Filtering technology, the Candela system filters the light to ensure that only the wavelengths necessary for the treatment are used. Because of this, only the blood vessels that supply the sebaceous gland are impacted, while the surrounding vessels are not affected.
